Should I take 2 or 3 ap classes for senior year?
Ap bio
Ap physic
And
Ap environment / ap psychology (not sure about)
Is ap statistic hard? Like personally does it have same logic of thinking of ap mirco/macro? I got a in reg precal
Does it look bad if I take intro to coding honor in senior year?
No one on CC would be able to advise you as well as your guidance counselor I am guessing, since none of us go to your school. Also, we are not exactly sure what your goals and interests are. We could advise you on common points such as College Board Administered AP Exams, however.
All of my kids took AP stat, and considered it one of the easiest maths. Even my artist daughter who is NOT great in math got an A. Just study and do the work. There are stat “projects” that can be an easy A if you do the work.
Easiest schedule would be AP bio, stat and Environmental science.
If you think you can handle the work, taking 3 APs senior year will definitely make you a more competitive applicant for college admissions than taking two. I never took AP stats but in my high school people did not consider it to be a very difficult course, especially compared to calc. Some people would take AP stats if they wanted to continue with math and get the AP credit but didn’t feel prepared to take AB or BC calc.
Are you planning on taking calc at any level this year, or is stats going to be instead of that? I only ask because you said you’re taking AP physics but didn’t say whether it’s physics B or C, and I wanted to point out that physics C is MUCH harder if you’ve never had calc. My high school didn’t require calc as a prerequisite for physics C mechanics, which most students took in junior year when most of us were in trig/precalc, and many of us found it much more difficult than the students who were in calc junior year. Physics C was the only AP exam I got a 4 on. So keep that in mind. It might make more sense to do either AP bio, AP stats and AP psych (since stats and psych are related disciplines), OR do AP bio, AP calc (either AB or BC, your call) and AP physics (since calc and physics are related disciplines).
Oh I also didn’t notice you had APES on that list - I never took that either but I don’t think it’s very hard, and would probably work with whatever other 2 APs you decide to take, so you could do that instead of one of the others.
AP stats is not real math, it’s more of terms and reading. AP psych is good to take with stats b/c they interwind with each other.
Don’t take AP Bio, AP Physics, and APES; it’s overkill and it makes no sense. You only need 1 science per year and would only “double up” (TWO Ap sciences, not three!!!) if you intend to go into science or don’t have one of the other core classes (English, Math, Social Science, Foreign Language).
You could have AP bio and AP physics* if you’re really good at science and your Honors Bio and Physics teachers said you could get a B+ or A in the class, but it’d be more prudent to take AP bio OR AP Physics plus APES. AP Stats should be okay for someone who took regular math classes.
- I'm assuming AP Physics 1 or 2, since Physics C supposes you've had calculus and wouldn't really be accessible from "regular" (non honors) precalc.
All I can say is take the APs that have the greatest influence toward your intended major. This is senior year I wouldn’t flood your schedule with APs just because they are APs, you should of had plenty of time to fill your schedule with AP & honors in 10th and 11th.
I’m trying choose the best aps for me now . Will ap ab cal will be to hard for me? I have A in regular precal though.
I’m solid for one ap in science
I don’t think anyone here can give you a solid answer. It depends on your ability, your class schedule, your intended major, and the schools you are going to apply. Course rigor is important particularly for competitive schools, but never at the expenses of your GPA. Besides course rigor, the main purpose of AP classes if for the advanced placement and credit in college. Check whether that credit (or which credit) would be useful for you at certain school and for certain major. Regarding your ability and schedule, your GC should be able to give you some advise. AP statistics is among the easier AP courses. Having 2 or 3 AP sciences can be overwhelming. How many AP have you taken simultaneously before?
