How difficult is human bio at UCSD?

just recently been accepted to that major
just wondering if i should do any preps before going to college?
is bio at SD that difficult??

Are you talking about the actual biology courses or the major as a whole? If you’re passionate about biology the actual bio classes are not so bad. The major as a whole though is different since you have to consider courses like gchem, ochem, physics, and labs which you may find more difficult.

I wouldn’t say it’s THAT difficult, granted though I’m only a first year bio major and have a lot left to see. If you got into the university, and then major which is impacted, that means the university sees you as sufficiently qualified to succeed. Just make sure you study a lot and do all the homework and you’ll be fine.

Short answer: difficult! I have watched roommates and friends suffer through ochem, labs, physics, etc and thank god that I am not a bio major

wow…
i hope my first yr here will not be ruined cause of bio…

1st year is really not too bad. chem 6 series is very easy along with physics 1 series. it gets a bit rougher with 6bl, ochem, and the upper divs. i think as far as prepping goes, not really much to do except to just enjoy senior year (serious!)

maybe a bit of ap reviewing over the summer but i would think that the best way to prepare is to really know what works in terms of studying because the pace compared to hs is much quicker.

If your college experience is being “ruined” by your major, rethink why you’re going to college in the first place.

Well of course it’s going to be difficult, but it’s not like it’s something that is completely unattainable. And if people are looking at this major like “oh god why do I have to take all these terrible classes” then rethink your major. Better soon than later. You should actually to some extent enjoy the classes you will be taking. I definitely understand how chem can be frustrating at times, but if you get into your bio classes and hate those, then rethink your major.

^Yeah I agree completely. Bio’s going to be one of the harder majors no matter where you go

agree with Oyama
