how difficult is it to get accepted as a business/economics major?

I am a girl, so does applying as a business or economics major give me a slight advantage, or is it still more difficult to get in than getting accepted in the general school?

If the business and finance field is too competitive and I don’t get in, will colleges deny me completely or deny me from that major and just accept me into their general school? or that 2nd/3rd choice major that some colleges ask for?

I have also been speaking chinese for 4 years, so does that give me an advantage for the International Business major?

Being female shouldn’t help you for business, unless the overall school has a higher acceptance rate for females than males. Being fluent in Chinese is unique enough that it might be helpful.

Most colleges do not accept applicants into a separate business school. Many top ranked programs like MIT or UCB don’t have separate admissions into “business”

Econ is a widely available Liberal Arts major.

Applying as a possible business/econ major is no more difficult than other applicants of the college. The few exceptions are Ross (UMich) and Wharton (Penn). Kelley (Indiana). Their admit rates are lower than the general college admit rate. Your being female makes no difference.

College majors rarely affect admissions since students commonly switch once there.

@T26E4 I know northeastern and nyu are more difficult to get into, but how about Boston college and BU?
