I have spoken Chinese for 4 years. is this an advantage to get into the china international business major, or do they only admit by school and not major (d’amore-mckim)?
Northeastern does not even admit by school, or if so, does not release any information on it. You could get in as a business major and switch to an entirely different college before arriving to campus even. What major you select acts primarily as a way to frame your application. That said, what exactly is a “china international business major”? I don’t believe there is any degree specifically focused on China.
The Northeastern admissions officer gave a presentation in my school and said that you are admitted to the school, NOT by major. As in, if you apply for a major that no one wants, and your friend applies to engineering, both of you are held to the same standard for admission. What major you choose does not affect admission.
By the way, I applied for International Business/China too!
nice!!
how would you guys view the political science/business major in the social science school? do both majors have the same prestige even though their in different schools?
Can someone link me to this “International Business/China”. I cannot find anything on this, only the IB major itself?
IB vs Business/Political Science is not about prestige difference, but about different subject focus. You should not choose a major based on “prestige”. Your career goals will be better suited for one major or the other likely, as your interests can be as well. Any employer is just going to say “Oh, he studied Business at Northeastern”, and then will note your additional concentration areas in relation to the job skill set and subject.

It is the BSIB with a China destination.
@PengsPhils ok thank you. i am interested in both probably equally, but I know i wouldn’t get in if I apply BSIB and was just wondering which looks better
