I have been accepted by both and I'm having a really hard time choosing one over the other, and I'm wondering if I end up picking one that I'm not happy at, is there any possiblity of transfering to the other?

im guessing you’ve been accepted as a freshmen?

I would visit both campuses and see which one you like more. I would not recommend transferring after, unless you despise the school. They are both great schools.

@ollieshuvitz: Yep

@thebigsh0w: I just visited both earlier this week, and I was really hoping that I wouldnt like one so my decision would be easy, but I really liked them both, obviously for different reasons.

There is a possibility of transferring, however I don’t know the statistics. I would imagine that it would not be seamless. That is why I recommend you finding out now which school you like!

Where do you want to live? SoCal or NorCal? If you go to UCLA, it would be easier to find a job in that area. Same thing with UCB.

Overall, UCB is ranked higher, but this could be offset by specific department rankings.

UCB tends to be more liberal, so if you like that “stuff,” go there.

Also, the weather in Northern California can make some people depressed, especially if they are used to sunny California.

Also, UCLA seems to be in a nicer/safer (maybe a tiny bit). Also, when I went to the UCLA campus, it seemed a bit more diverse than Berkeley.

Haha well im from seattle so if weather is capable of depressing me it would have done it already. I dont really know where I am more interested in living; probably LA though. In terms of deparment, im thinking either business or premed, so i think UCB is better for business but UCLA is better for premed.

Washington is cool, I have been there a few times to visit family. I personally like the weather, but I don’t know if I would be able to withstand it.

Well, if you are wanting to do business admin, I would definitely go with UCB because they have the Haas program. San Francisco is also a great magnet for these people. I don’t know about premed, but I would imagine UCLA is top notch. They also have a hospital there.

LA has great weather. LA is also great for business, but I think SF is superior.

Also, UCLA has business-econ, but it is not a traditional business degree. It is basically econ with accounting.

i duuno about UCLA to CAL , but from their UCLA website…

UC Berkeley 26 2.92% 9 34.62% 3.57% 4 44.44% 2.52%

transfer admitted rate is 34.62%

eager2go, I think we can see that there are no guarantees to transferring. But the rate is not too bad.

yup … so its 1/3 chance hahahaha

Oh thats not to bad… i guess you have to consider that they were all berkeley caliber students though.

I have no clue what the rates are, but my dad was an undergrad at UCLA and said transferring to Cal was really easy for him. He said all he had to do was basically ask and they said yes. He was a really good student (and it was a while ago) so I assume that helped, but if your GPA is a 3.5+ it can’t be that hard. Especially if you get one of your professors to back you up and talk up for you.
