I would like to triple major in Finance, Economics, and International Relations from James Madison College at MSU. Am I over my head about this or can this be done? I will be entering my Freshmen year this fall with Advanced Placement credit (around 20 credits) which should give me a jump start. Also, I assume those three majors will have several overlapping classes.

Anyway, any advice will be helpful. Thank you!

It might be able to be done but there are a couple of problems:
-You’d have VERY few, if any, electives to explore other things or gain other skill sets.
-There is really zero advantage to triple majoring… you can continue to take classes you want without declaring the major.
-You probably will have to take summer classes if that’s OK with you.

With that said, I recommend against it. I did two degrees (a BA and a BS), and a minor in 4 years but I started as a 2nd semester sophomore and took summer classes. In retrospect, it was completely pointless and what mattered way more were the skills that came out of my classes.

I highly recommend you single or double major and then heavily concentrate on classes that are good for your intended field.

Good luck!
