How do colleges calculate your senior year?

How do they calculate the first semester into your final GPA?

I hear they only use the first semester(2 Marking Periods).

How do they incorporate the senior year (first semester) into your GPA?

If you apply ED/EA, then it's not there. Your fall senior grades aren't reported.

If you apply RD, then it depends. They'll look at your overall GPA (including your the fall of your senior year), but I've heard at some universities that it barely matters and they look mainly at the last three years.

Senior grades don't really influence adcoms that much (they can get you rescinded, but don't count on senior year to be your saving grace.)

If I have a 3.73 at the end of Junior year but will almost definitely raise it to a 3.8+ during senior year, will the 3.7 hurt me?

^ that is if I apply ED. I would have a 3.73 before Senior year begins but after the first semester of Senior year I would be over 3.8 and could POSSIBLY bring it to a 3.9 by the end of the year (assuming all A's).
