How do colleges factor in your ranking/percentile of your class if...

You attend a magnet school? If you attend a school where you have to take a test for admission, how do colleges see percentiles and ranks of those students then? In such cases, wouldn't it be highly possible that someone in the top 20% of their class at a magnet school would be in the the top 10 or 5% of a regular public school? How do these balance out, if they do at all?

I'm just worried because I know a lot of schools offer merit scholarships based on (in addition to SAT scores, GPA, etc.) percentile in your class--I just afraid that the scholarship process will be skewed against my favor simply because of a perentile/class ranking that is relative to each school.

Thoughts?

I also attend a magnet school and would be interested in any replies to those thread.

I think colleges do, however, take into consideration the fact that magnet schools aren't like normal schools, and that a large majority of the students are very assiduous and competitive.

^I certainly hope so, light!

Does anyone else have any thoughts?
