How do colleges like NYU and Stonybrook see class rigor?

I’m currently a sophomore in 2 AP classes and 1 Honors class. My school does not count weighted averages (I go to Bronx Science). My average is a consistent 92 right now. How do colleges count in class rigor and harder classes? Do they even look at APs or Honors? If I stay at a 92, do you think I’ll even have a chance at these schools?

They both look at class rigor. Your school, when you apply, will send a school profile that details all the high-rigor courses they offer, their grading scale, and their class policies, and both schools will look at how many of those you took and whether or not you did well in them. For example, it’s better to take 8 honors classes and get straight As than to take 8 APs and get straight Cs. A 92 will likely be competitive at both, but without knowing your other info, you can’t say.

Your high school usually provides the GPA scale, AP/honors classes, ranking, etc…
