How do colleges look at GPA?

Hey, sorry if this is in the wrong section.

The college I'm interested in is UMich. Do colleges just round up your quarter GPAs and turn them into semester grades? Or do they look at everything separately to see if any improvement has been made?

They look at each separately - basically how the data is provided by the HS.

Generally, colleges probably ignore whatever weighted GPA your high school calculates (since high schools are all different in this respect) and either look at your courses and grades holistically or recalculate GPA their own way. Michigan does the holistic look at your courses and grades.
