How do colleges match you to your SAT/ACT scores?

I sent my SAT and ACT scores in early October, but I was kind of worried about how colleges would match my application to my scores.

I know it sounds kind of silly but, I have two email addresses that I’ve been using, one that I made sophomore year to get all of the college junk mail and one that I made this year to correspond with colleges I’m applying to, throughout this process, and I signed up for College Board and ACT with the former. I recently got an email from Cal Poly saying that they received my SAT scores, but it wasn’t to my main college email–should I be worried about this, since that means my scores are connected to the wrong email address, or should it work out fine? I would imagine they have other ways to connect my app and my scores (SSN, Address, School, Birthday, etc.), but it seems odd that Cal Poly would email me at the address I’m not using to apply to them with.

I know I’m probably being paranoid, but I just wanted to know if anyone could explain to me how they match them up.

Scores sent by the testing companies are matched to the application files by name and your social security number if provided, and, if not, by name and address and if needed other identifying info that would appear in the test file and your application. Info included by the testing agencies on the report sent to colleges includes the email you provided the agency and Cal Poly appears to have used used that to show scores were received. I doubt you will have any issue just because of the two emails but it is always advisable to assure that any identifying information you put in your test applications matches the information in your college application file.

This isn’t anything to worry about. Every year, a bajillion scores get matched w/o any problem u know

Thanks guys! I had a feeling I was just being paranoid, so I figured I was better safe than sorry.
