How do colleges view class rank?

I’ve been a bit stressed lately because of this. I have all A’s, but my school is super competitive and that just isn’t enough. I hear of people that have super high A’s and I’m wondering if this will have an effect on my class rank. It just seems unfair that student the same student could either be val or barley in the top 10% depending on the schools. So my question is, how much will colleges (especially highly competitive ones) actually look at this? I will probably be in the top 5-7% hopefully.

Rigor and rank matter. And when you are looking for fit do you want then to choose a college where almost all the kids are super competitive and the struggle to excel will be that much harder?

Then you’re fine as far as class rank.

Colleges will judge your application in the context of your circumstances (using your school profile, for example). They’re not going to automatically assume you’re a worse applicant than someone who had a better class rank at a completely different high school.
