I’m trying to figure out required classes before I transfer. Right now, I am enrolled in Mt. San Antonio College and wanna transfer to University of Illinois. but requirements available in Mtsac portal are only for universities in California.
Spring term starts in a month and I need to figure the classes I should take for the school. Can someone assist me with this?
You want to look at your target university (Univ of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign?) and look at their transfer admissions information. In general, you have some flexibility in what courses to take – but I certainly understand that you don’t want to take classes that either aren’t pre-reqs or can’t transfer into the bachelor’s program at U of I. Go to the U of I website.
In another thread, you mention that you’re going to your CC this spring. Are you now trying to transfer to UIUC this spring? Have you been accepted?

pring), and I decide to try schools outside CA since the tuition would be just the same for me. (intl' student btw)

In another thread, you’re very concerned about cost. Seems silly to transfer now, since UIUC is a LOT more expensive than a Calif CC.
Also…OOS tuition is NOT the same for you no matter which public you attend. OOS tuition at various state schools can range from $15k per year to $40k+ per year.
You’d be better off applying to schools with good eng’g that have cheaper OOS tuition.
I understand that I should’ve made it more clear, in case I haven’t.
I never said that I was going to my CC this spring, and in fact I am starting my 2nd year in the CC next spring (that’s why I guess I wasn’t so clear)
I’m planning to transfer in 2017 but I should be prepared to take the prereq classes now, otherwise it would be a waste of my time. I completely understand that OOS tuition at UIUC is merely 30k but it’s still one and half a year away so, yeah. All I need is to know the classes I’ll have to take for UIUC prerequisite and I still can’t find it on their website.
Most universities do not have set prereqs for transfer (unless its an articulated agreement with a community college for guaranteed transfer). You should however look at what courses are gen ed requirements at UIUC in the specific school your major is in and what courses will be required for your intended major at UIUC.
State universities tend to have articulation agreements mostly with in-state community colleges (though some with more out-of-state appeal have for some other schools). So you need to look up your major at UIUC, then guess which of your CC’s courses corresponds to that major’s frosh/soph courses. If you do transfer to UIUC, UIUC will evaluate whether your CC’s courses count for subject credit at that time.
It is generally more advantageous for a California CC student to transfer to a UC or CSU, since the articulation agreements at http://www.assist.org will tell you which of the CC’s courses count for which subject requirements for your intended major at each UC or CSU. An in-state UC or CSU is likely to be much less expensive with better financial aid than out-of-state UIUC. However, if you are an international student as implied by one of your other threads, then you will not get in-state tuition anywhere, although CSUs have lower list prices than UCs or UIUC.
