How hard is it to transfer out of state from a community college? How do you know what classes transfer over? What are some classes that I should be looking at to take?

It really depends on the college. For instance, trying to transfer as an OOS student to Berkeley or UCLA is really hard, whereas trying to transfer to say an Ohio St. or a Rutgers is much easier for an OOS student.

Schools that I've heard are relatively hard to transfer if you're an OOS student: Berkeley, UCLA, Michigan, UVA and UT

I'd check the website of the university you're trying to transfer to. I know when I was looking at transferring, there were like two or three colleges that listed all of the classes that would definitely transfer to the schools I was looking at. *For most of the colleges I applied to as a transfer, I didn't find out which classes transfered until after I'd been admitted.

Just check out the websites of some of the universities you're interested in to see if the school has any transfer requirements.

Ex: For some business programs, you need to complete Macro/Microeconomics and Calculus to be elgible to transfer as a business major.

Thanks. Ok couple more questions, is it hard to transfer to U of Miami OOS? Is it harder to transfer after one or two years? And if the college says I must have 30 semester credit hours to be considered a sophmore transfer, do i have to apply WHEN I already have 30 credits done OR is that right before I complete 30? Meaning I apply for fall 09 with having 30 credits by the time I am done with my spring semester at my cc or have 30 done by the time I submit my application? Thanks.

Miami is private so it's probably on the easier side to transfer in -- as long as you have the grades/scores + ec's.

You'd need to complete 30 hours by the time you matriculate.

Edit: It depends on your high school record. For soph transfers -- high school record matters more. For Junior transfer -- not so much.

So if I have a 4.0 by the time I apply, and had a 2.9 in HS, would I seem like a good candidate or no? And does it look bad if I took the same classes twice and got a D the first time and got an A the second?

anyone... bumppppppp

some schools dont even ask for hs transcript or sat scores after 30 credits... some do but its not rly a big deal. and some uni's will count both grades if you repeat a class.

i think if u have a 4.0 u have a good shot at miami...

anyone know when I should apply? If I apply in the spring for fall admisions before I have 30 credits completed, do I have to show my high school gpa? which one is more heavily influenced?
