How do I get an a Harvard likely letter as an athlete.

I’m confused, I read discussions about how the Ivy League coach could give me support for a likely letter. I’m just confused as to how does he or she find out about me.

? so are you saying you got the offer or…?

You need to reach out to the coach[es] in your sport. Contact information and instructions should be on the Athletic Department website.

In Ivy recruitment, Likely Letters are given to student athletes who are recruited by the coaches. Once the coach offers a recruitment slot to an athlete, that student will need to go through a formal college application process, usually submitted much earlier than the general applicants. Then after a formal review by the admissions committee, if they decide to accept the student, they will send a Likely Letter, earliest is Oct 1 of the senior year. LL is a letter stating that the committee has voted to accept the student athlete and a formal letter of acceptance will be sent when everyone else will be receiving their acceptance letter.
As to your query about how the coach finds out about you, you will have to contact the coach. Depending on your sports, most athletes will have already contacted the coach sometime in their junior year. Usually these athletes are very highly talented athletes, but also will need to be able to pass the rigorous academic threshold to be consider for recruitment.

From our family’s experience, I’d recommend you phone the coach, introduce yourself, express interest, offer to send an academic/athletic resume, and ask for his/her email address.

The resume should include enough information to demonstrate two things, 1) that you’d be an asset to the team, and 2) that you have the academic qualification to satisfy the admission people.

Go to the Athletic Recruits section in CC that has a bunch of info about the process in general and many sports specifically.

^^This. Lots of info there. I knew nothing when I started, quite a bit of what I know now was learned on here.

You need to contact the coach, but make sure you do that the right way. Repost asking for help in that forum. Give some general information, sport, grade, academic stats, info about where you stand athletically (i.e. are you a legitimate D1 starter somewhere, an above average HS player, or something in-between)
