How do I know if I was accepted by the Honors College?

Hi all,

Roughly 10 days ago my Hofstra portal updated with a letter headed "congratulations" (which I took to mean I'd been accepted) and today I received notification of what I must say was some fairly generous merit aid. So all good as far as that's concerned.

My post now splits into two sections:

For accepted students:

I've noticed that under the Academics>Colleges and Schools tab on my Hofstra portal the only one that appears for me is the CoLA. Does this mean I was rejected by the Honors College or does it simply not show up?

For Hofstra admin personnel

Living as I do in Central America and third-world postal services being what they are, it was with great dismay that I found out that official acceptance letters are only sent out by snail mail. As a result, I can deduce that I was accepted by Hofstra, I know my financial aid, but I have no current way of determining my application outcome for the Honors College. Again, living in CA means I have no guarantee the letter will even reach me.

I therefore sent an email to Hofstra roughly a week ago, to the international admissions address specified on the website. Considering the level of efficiency and personalised attention before I applied (I was receiving up to two emails a day asking me to consider the Select Candidate Application) I expected a decently quick response. As of this moment, neither my email nor my post on their fb page have been answered.

I know it's a ridiculously busy time of year and I understand that my email could have gone missing, but please do get back to me asap.

Thanks.

Hi Eduardo! I see that a copy of your official decision letter was emailed to you on April 9. We only send admission letters along with our I-20. All other letters are emailed to students first. Can you just make sure that it did not get moved to your junk email box? Your decision letter was sent to your school email address, which was listed on your application and is the only email we have for you. Are you now using a different address? You can email me directly at John.Nelson@Hofstra.edu and I will be able to provide your official decision and any scholarship information as well! Talk to you soon. - Jack Nelson, Associate Dean
