Obviously I could just ask them but I don’t want to put unnecessary pressure on them to finish early. How could I check if they submitted it using the commonapp?
Depends on school. Lots of colleges have you make an account when you apply that shows when application is complete, all transcripts submitted, etc. They should show what’s still missing.
They submit their recommendations to the Common App, not to the schools directly. In other words their recommendations are attached to your application, so when your application is submitted, so is the recommendation. So you just have to check your Common App account to see if they have uploaded their recommendation, and if they have, when you eventually submit your application to the school, the recommendation will go with it.
Or did I misunderstand and you meant that your teachers were mailing in their recommendations instead of uploading them to your Common App account?
@b1ggreenca they’re using the common app but when you say I have to check my commonapp account to see if they’ve uploaded it, where would I look to see it?
It’s been a year since I have seen a Common App account so I don’t recall the specific page. But according to the Common App knowledgebase–which is extremely helpful for everything–The recommender status can be viewed on the “Assign Recommender” page within your application. If you see the status of ‘submitted’ or ‘downloaded,’ the recommendation has been submitted online.
You can see if they’ve uploaded it or not from the same page you used to assign them to be your recommender - under Colleges -> X UNIVERSITY -> FERPA and Recommenders it will say something like ‘Not Started’, ‘Started’, or ‘Complete’
Ok thanks guys
