Also, where do I get the books..? What's the best place to get it? Can you order on Amazon for better prices? I used to do that at my other college.

No, you don’t need to have your books on the first day. And I’d say the cheapest place to get them is Half.com.

mostly, you can find the books needed on the schedule page where you search for classes. There should be a link that says something like View Books… and I look at half, ebay, amazon used books, comegetused for a specific book and I buy it from the cheapest of the stores. So it differs for each book. My western civ book was cheapest on Amazon while my music textbook may be cheapest on half… shop around

The official bookstore (which is what pops up when you view books) may not show all the information you need to choose the book on external sites like Amazon or half.com. However, Ned’s also lists the books by class and between the two you can usually figure out the edition, ISBN or see the cover to double check the book.

The official bookstore does try to promote lots of ‘suggested’ stuff which is not suggested by the professor or department, but by the bookstore. Very often these are useless or pretty low value. Buy the required stuff, go to class and based on that you can always add the optional stuff later.

Thank you!!

eBay is where I usually source my books. At least for technical subjects, grey market international editions are usually much cheaper.

When do you order them? Like the day you start class? Or weeks/days before?
