And a few other side notes.......

Someone at my school the previous year when they conducted their congressman interview, spoke in chinese to Congressman Levin and was given a great nomination. would it be in my best interest to do the same?

Is it ever too early to apply for a nomination? Does the early bird get the worm in terms of applying early?

Which ACT scores does the USNA take? Are mine substantial?

Since I was denied from NASS, they said they would contact me in May with further instructions for my application, what will be in that letter? If anyone who recieved the letter in the past could weigh in that would be great!

Will I be competititive enough to be considered an official candidate for admission?

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS AND ANY INSIGHT OR ADVICE THAT YOU HAVE IS VERY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get Sue Ross “The USNA Candidate Handbook” that will enable your own personal answer to your own personal question. Read the USNA class profile and procedures. And do some research on these threads. This question has been answered generally only a thousand times or so … and there is no answer to your specific case. The process is not much analogous to applying to Princeton or Slippery Rock.

You’re looking fine.

as for applying - for the VP nomination there is such thing as being too early your app needs to be post marked between certain dates in order to qualify; but you should also qualify for the pres nom. since your dad served.
The above mentioned book is also SOOOOOO helpful
But as for your chances no one can ever answer that for you until you apply :)

Look carefully at the requirements for a Presidential. The parent serving an enlistment or two does not qualify the child for the nomination. It doesn’t sound like the OP’s father is still serving and the OP does not indicate that the father retired or is disabled.

An unlimited number of presidential nominations are available for children and legally adopted children of career officer and enlisted personnel of the armed forces, active or reserve, including the Coast Guard. One hundred candidates may be appointed with these nominations each year. A parent in the reserve must be serving as a member of a reserve component and be credited with at least eight full years of service (a minimum of 2880 points) or must be entitled to retired pay except that he or she is not yet sixty years old. Otherwise, the parent must currently be on active duty (other than for training) and have served continuously for at least eight years or have been retired with pay or granted retired or retainer pay. If you have questions regarding your eligibility, please call (410) 293-4392.

Thanks to all for your great responses! As for the presidential nomination, my father was in the marines for 6 months before he injured his knee and was forced to leave. Based on what I have read, i do not qualify. Although, i’m not sure if I may qualify because he was injured while in the Marines. Any Advice or info would be appreciated.
