how do i manage my schedule?

so i got a pretty bad schedule due to me enrolling late and running out of good slots (online enrollment site was acting up/had system issues… how lucky am i)

my sched would be

MoWe: Calculus and English from 8 AM - 2:35 PM (there’ll be a 3 hr break in between the two classes)
TTh: Chem Lecture and Lab 2:20 - 9 PM (2 hr break in between)
Fri: Calculus from 8 - 9:35 AM

i originally wanted morning to afternoon classes so that i could do homework at night, but obviously i wasnt able to acquire that.

For TTh should i wake up early to do school work since i got night classes? for the breaks in between classes, i’ll probably do homework in school as well (hopefully i have the motivation to get it done and be productive). any more advice on how i can manage my time?

If it was me I’d probably do a big chunk of homework on friday because I’d still be free really early on friday.

I’d also probably do homework from like 4-6 on MW and then have dinner.

  • I would get up at the same time every day, have breakfast and go to the classroom side of campus.
  • MW, Class, homework, lunch, class, home work, visiting, dinner, homework, bed.
  • On TTh, I would go to the library from 8am to whatever time you set for your daily lunch, then back to study/homework until class time. No visiting as not to distract from night classes. Do what homework you can after the late class and keep a reasonable bed time.
  • After class on Friday, I would go back to the library and finish remaining home work until lunch.
  • By the time I went back to the dorm on Fridays, I would try to only leave reading-type homework to be done over the weekend and try to give myself the afternoon off. I would do homework on Friday afternoon/evening if there were football games or other events on Saturday night.

Don’t forget to seek out departmental libraries, other than the main one on campus that may be convenient for you.

As far as motivation, get a serious study partner and make sure your study space is quiet and not distracting. For my years, my roommate and I studied together at the library, even though we had different majors and classes. We were just keeping each other focused. When she graduated early, I studied in the law library since it was smaller, newer and nicer, and I didn’t know anyone to chat with. I wouldn’t think of trying to catch a nap around these older students and kept good study habits.

Set a schedule and stick to it. Do not be swayed. 30 days to build a good habit!

If you are unhappy with your schedule you may be able to change closer to the start of the semester or within the add/drop period.

^ Yes, keep checking into course availability throughout the summer to see if any openings get arise. Go get coffee after calculus and then do your math homework - maybe with a classmate. Don’t skip that early Friday class!

The first week of school students drop and add classes so there maybe an opening in a class section that was previously closed. From the first day of class establish good study habits so that you don’t get behind. Go to study sessions and professor office hours if you need help. At times a professor may offer a study session prior to a test. Go to that. Go for tutoring if you need help. It’s fine to enjoy the social aspects of college but don’t let that interfere with performing well in your classes. In college you spent less time in class but you need to spend more time in studying since you are covering more material in one semester. Keep up on your class reading and go to class prepared.

Yeah my schedule is awful this semester too. It seems like you have time for lunch in between your MW classes. Maybe study and do HW for an hour and a half and then eat and relax the other 90 minutes?

I like to basically put my schedule on an Excel sheet so you can easily view your free time during the day. Depending on the time or even just your mood on any given day, you can decide whether to eat, relax, study, etc.
