Ok, so right now, I’m very mad at myself and I’m super stressed and I need to vent and I need advice.
The biggest spanish test of the entire semester was on the same day that my Historical Investigation for APUSH was due, and I didn’t know it would be the biggest test of the year (she didn’t tell us, she said told us not to worry too much about it) and then I didn’t do well on that so my grade in spanish dropped 7% and it’s a bust.
My math grade is garbage and I am naturally just not that great at math, and given my current place right now, there’s no way I’d be able to get an A at this point.
And now, my physics grade, which had been pretty consistently near an A all semester, might drop to an 89% or so because of a lab my sprung on us, in which I would need a 100% on in order to have my grade not go down, as there is only a single 2 point assignment in the lab category. The thing is, my teacher has been notorious for rounding students that he favors, and not rounding those he doesn’t, and I’m scared because I can only get 2 B’s this semester, and I don’t know what to do.
Any advice, other than the typical “don’t stress out too much, it’ll all work out in the end, focus, etc.”.
I’m sorry if I sound whiny or mean, I’m just really aggravated with my past self right now.
Do the best you can and focus on your SAT/ACT score. There is such disparity in GPA based on various high school rigor, grading policy, and individual teachers. The college boards are the great equalizer. One of my children goes to a very competitive, demanding suburban school. Grading can be brutal and there is so much variation based on what individual teacher you get. Honors classes are often graded easier than non-honors. I feel your pain.
You say it’s a bust. If so there is nothing you can do. Is that in fact true? Have you asked the teacher? If there are no options, there is no advice to give here. It is what it is. Fugetaboutit and move on.
Again, there is no advice to give here either if the facts as you’ve laid them out are in fact true. Are they really? If they are, fugetaboutit and move on.
Have you completed this lab? How do you know the grade might drop? Why can you only get 2 B’s this semester? Is there any reason to think that the teacher doesn’t favor you? Is there anything that you can do to make sure he does? What to do? Do an excellent job on the lab. If it goes down, it goes down. So what? If there is nothing you can do, fugetaboutit and move on.
Have you ever found that beating yourself to be helpful? I didn’t think so. Fugetaboutit and move on.
I’m not going to tell you that it will all work out in the end. It may not. What happens then?
I don’t see any catastrophes here. You fugetaboutit and move on!
