How do I shape up?

Hi,

I am a junior and taking two AP courses while the rest are all level 3 classes. I have yet to give my SAT and ACT.

From 9th grade to 11th grade, my grades haven't improved too much. In 9th grade, I didn't have any honors classes. In 10th grade, I got into some honors classes. In 11th grade, I have two AP classes. In 12th grade, I will have some honors classes and maybe 1 AP course.

I am looking towards a major in Computer Science since I am interested in computers.

I have done some research and found that the best colleges for Computer Science are Harvard, MIT, Northeastern, WPI, Boston University, Boston College, Tufts University etc...

Also, I am interested in a school in Massachusetts.

If I try at Harvard or MIT, what are my chances? What about any Ivy league school?
What about the schools I listed above (Northeastern, WPI, Boston College, Boston University, Tufts University etc...)?

Although my grades haven't always been high, I have tried to do other things that I like and that would look good on my resume such as programming for Microsoft's Windows operating system, voluntarily developing websites for non-profit organizations, volunteering at other places etc...

I appreciate your help.
Thanks!

anyone? please help me

Tell us your, current GPA, rank, if you have any hooks.

My current GPA is about 3.0
I don’t have class rank information but I would say I am top 30% of my entire grade level.

Your rank and lack of rigor will make Harvard and MIT impossible, Tufts and BC unlikely. With a good SAT score the others are in range.

Also, I need to write this:

EC

Robotics - School Team
Tennis - School Varsity Team
Track and Field - School Team
School media editing - Record school events such as sports and edit them on the computers.

Your gpa is too low for harvard, and your courses are too easy for mit. Only recruited athletes get in with that kind of score.

How about UMass Amherst?

From what I read, your choices seem to be a bit of a reach. You have a shot at Northeastern. Your sports definitely helps, but I wouldn’t count on Harvard or MIT. Good luck anyways!
