How do I sign up for an AP exam if my school's AP Coordinator says no?!

So my problem is,

I studied all the AP prep books,

and I asked the AP Coordinator to sign me up, but got rejected because I either didn’t take any classes or failed their sample tests or missed their deadlines!!!

I tried researching on whether there’s an online application that I can sign up on my own, but NOTHING!

This is my junior year so it’s important and I’m freaked out that all my time spent self-studying will go down the drain :frowning:

Seeking advice, thanks!

You can do it through the college board’s website I believe. Just make sure you can find a testing site to take the test at. I’d also talk to a counselor and maybe have him/she talk to the AP Coordinator. I don’t know what the big deal is, it isn’t the school’s money your using, it’s your own.

It’s not on the college board website

All it says on that website is to contact your ap coordinator T_T
We know how that went

DS goes to a private school. Last year he self-studied for an AP course that is offered at his school. Department Chair would not allow him to take the exam at his school. DS contacted 2 local public schools and took the test at a nearby school. Contact a local school ASAP to register – DS registered for the AP exam in February. The public schools were very accommodating, no questions asked. They said they have a lot of home-schooled kids who take AP exams there.

You might have missed the deadline to register. The college board website says to contact the AP coordinator by March 16. Maybe you could inquire about taking the test(s) during the late testing period May 20-22.

If you act quick you might be able to find a school that can order tests for you. The college board web site says the deadline for ordering tests is March 27 but the extended deadline is April 10.

Oh my >_< How exactly do I contact a school?

I checked the website and it says
Call the AP Coordinators identified by AP Services no later than March 16.
Where do I find this AP Service identified list?

I’m so upset about missing the deadline. My school deliberately misled me by saying “sure you can take the exam! Wait until march X and ask me again!” Then rejecting me when I do. Roughly speaking =_=

@Hozuki‌ I just looked up the phone number of the high school my son wanted to take his test at and asked to speak to their AP coordinator. Your high school can probably still order tests for you since the extended deadline is April 10. I agree withe Swade1234 – I think you should ask your guidance counselor to reason with the AP coordinator at your school. It is inconvenient to take the test at a different school and there is no reason for it. At my son’s school the math chair did not want student’s to self-study for exams so she wanted to make it inconvenient as possible to discourage students from doing that.

@‌lslmom
That’s exactly what’s happening at my school, plus my guidance counselor either won’t listen to me or has no influence.
Also, my parents don’t speak English :\ I guess I’ll do this by myself and hope I don’t get rejected or ignored since I’m not their student or an adult or something stupid :\
Would it help if I also contact the DoE Chancellor just in case?

Thanks for all your info everyone.

I know it is not the same, but you could also take the corresponding CLEP exam in the same subject (assuming this is the case). Anyone can take the CLEP exams, they are given at CLEP test centers throughout the year (not just in May), and instant results because the tests are multiple-choice (except for College Composition due to the separate scoring of the mandatory essays). The big issue is whether any of the colleges/universities you hope to attend grant credit for CLEP exams. If you have an idea where you plan to apply, I would check to see if they have a stated CLEP policy and go from there.
