How do I stack up?

Research: I read somewhere that MOC, and Senators are allowed only to have a maximum of 5 students from their region to the Naval Academy at a time.

The question is what happens if a new Member of Congress gets elected in the district and the previous Member of Congress had already 5 students at the Academy. Does this means for that year, the MOC can’t nominate anyone to the academy or does the MOC gets 5 new slots to send 5 bright students to the academy? Because apparently, there was a special election in my district because Obama appointed Hilda Solis, the previous MOC, to U.S. Secretary of Labor this year.

Its 5 max per Congressional District not by who’s occupying the seat.

In our district that happened and the new senator is who my son got his nom from all handle through usna that is because he had L.O.A but no nom from MOC

It was pointed out in another thread that one of the issues is a new MoC might not have his staff or system in place to make the nominations. I can imagine for a newly elected MoC academy nominations are not the first thing on the agenda following swearing in. In that case the academys may step into the void.

Tennis:

 1. 2 time Outstanding Tennis player.

The reason I said all my leadership positions including Senior year because most of the positions in my Senior year are less prestigious.

This is my most likely extracurricular activities throughout my entire High School Leadership positions. My chance to become President of FBLA is 0% now because my opponent has gained the needed officer votes to automatically become President no matter what. But I will still run for it in case the opponent gets sick on that day and loses by default.

The last update is my Senior year class schedule

Calculus AB AP 1/2 A/B, 98% guarantee 5 on the AP

Government AP 1/2 A/B

English AP 7/8 B/B

International Business/Marketing 1/2 A+/A+

Fine Art 1/2 A/A

AP Physics B 1/2 A/B

As for the Candidate Fitness Assessment, I am working on getting into shape.

I’d suspect that Young Democrat gig’s a deal breaker. :p

David, plenty of young Democrats and even – brace yourself – out-and-out liberals attend the Academy. I bet some of them were among those who hugged the POTUS @ Commencement last June.

What do you mean a deal breaker? Guantanamo bay?

david …lighten up. jk. Indeed, and to the amazement of many, as NCmammy notes …there are even a few closeted libs. They’re usually assigned operating the beauty parlor and McDonalds on carriers. And indeed, they are the ones PDAing POTUS.:p

I currently have no contact with my BGO from my region. I am wondering what are some alternatives to the Naval Preparatory School in case I don’t get into the Naval Preparatory School.

Plan A: Naval Academy
Plan B: Naval Preparatory School
Plan C: Are there any other successful preparatory School in California?

How do I apply for Early Decision?

USNA doesn’t have an early decision option like some civilian universities do. The closest thing to that sort of thing in the Naval Academy admissions system is a Letter of Assurance (guaranteeing an appointment if certain conditions are met). These are sent out as early as September, but are only extended to the highest-qualified candidates and/or recruited athletes from the general applicant pool. If memory serves, only 10% of each incoming class has a LoA.

I think I got it

Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus Honor 1/2 B/B

Mandarin 5/6 A/A

Computer Programing

English Language AP 5/6 A/B

U.S. History AP 1/2 B/B

Physics A 1/2 A/B

Senior Year

AP calculus

AP physics

AP computer programing

fine art

Government/economics

English

I think this will raise my chances since I will be more Electrical & Computer Programing Engineering qualify. And my Senior year will be a lot easier than what I was thinking before.

David, Does your school not offer AP Chemistry?

Caution on both reality and perception on your thought here. It’s long been understood that USNA prefers those who appear to be and in fact are running hard thru the finish line. Whatever your meaning, you may want to adjust thinking, course work, and/or how you communicate that. Just a suggestion … USNA admissions process gives zero credit for “easier” to my knowledge, nor the mindset/scheduling quirks that might allow for cruise-control come senior season.

^^^ I agree. You could take a fine arts class at your local community college over the summer and free up your schedule for another AP class.

I did not take Chemistry honor in my Sophomore year; I took chemistry the summer before my sophomore year. I have a weak foundation in Chemistry which prevents me from doing well in the AP Chemistry Class at my school. But would it be a good idea if I were to take Chemistry at a community college over the summer instead of fine arts to make myself slightly more competitive?

Even though I left the Tennis Team, I think I am going to join Track & Field this year and my Senior Year. Track won’t appear on my transcript since the Track Class is a 6th period and both my Junior and Senior year 6th period is full. Would it still work?

Freshman Year: Tennis Junior Varsity
Sophomore Year: Tennis Junior Varsity
Junior Year: Track
Senior year: Track

I don’t think I would get into Varsity Track in my Junior Year, but I think It might happen since I got a lot taller since my first post. 6 Feet and 1.5 inches now.

I am also going to join Cross Country to help get me physically fit for the mile run in the naval academy application.

Chem is allegedly one of the killer courses @ USNA. You may want to beef up some in any case. You’ll figure out the best approach in your scenario.
