Could someone help me from Step 1? I don't even know where to look....and I am not going to CalSO either which kinda sucks.

what college are you in?

Letters and Science with intent of applying to Haas.

Have you taken any of the following and if you have, what were your scores:

AP Calc AB/BC
AP Lang or Lit
AP Micro/Macro Econ

This tells us which classes you pass out of.

I think we need a general topic for help w/ classes/teachers. I have no idea what to take either, but luckily I’m going to CalSO

I’m in the same boat as TheBlackLantern so this thread could be very helpful.

Does Cal not accept college calculus classes for satisfying the Calculus requirement?

Cal usually does accept calculus from community college for calculus requirement.

Check this site to make sure the classes are equivalent:
[ASSIST Prompt Page](<a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST)

AP Calc AB/BC
AP Lang or Lit
AP Micro/Macro Econ

I only took the exam for AP Lang and got a 3…I took the classes for Calc AB, and both AP Micro/Macro but did not take the exams. I also didn’t take AP Lit.

Your 3 on AP Language passes you out of the entry level writing requirement.
You still have to take both parts (A & B) of the Reading and Composition requirement. I recommend you take one your 1st semester (ie. English R1A, German R5A).

What are your possible backup majors? This well help us determine what math class you should take.

I also need help since I’m not going to Calso…I’m in the same boat with OP with intent to apply to Haas

Is Econ 1 and UGBA 10 doable together in my 1st semester?

I have absolutely no knowledge of calculus and I’m horrible at math… well except for stats.

Should I take math 16A or 16B? I heard someone on the forums said 16B was easier

I plan to take my math prereq 2nd semester…Is that fine?

I did check ASSIST and couldn’t find any agreement between Cal State Fullerton and Berkeley for any classes. Am I out of luck? :(

No, your not.

You might not get unit credit for your classes (which does not really matter), but you may pass out of the requirement.

What’s your major?

I really appreciate the help you guys are giving me. Anyways, ummm other majors I have in mind other than Business: Economics, Mathematics, Political Science, and History.

Pre-Haas Undeclared in L&S just like TheBlackLantern. Thank you for the help.

Orien: I am not sure. You would have to talk to a Haas adviser. Not a big deal because its not urgent (you can wait to take math later).

BlackLantern: As far as math goes, you need to take either Math 16a or 16b (or 1a or 1b). For econ, you have to take both 16a and 16b (or 1a and 1b). For math, you have to take 1a and 1b (plus a lot more).

The math 1a/1b series is a lot more difficult than 16a/16b. Here is my recommendation: If you aren’t feeling math too much (you don’t want to major in it, take 16a your 1st semester. If math major is still in the picture, wait a semester to take math. Then decide whether to go 1a or 16a (depending on whether you are still considering math).

You should also take a breadth that also serves as a prereq for some of your backup majors. History 7a can be used as a prereq for History and Pol Sci. You can also take a 3-unit breadth such as Nutri Sci 10 (human nutrition/biological breadth) or Physics c10 (physics for future presidents/physical science breadth).

You can also try getting into Econ 1 if you feel comfortable taking a business prereq your 1st semester.

I recommend taking 3 or 4 classes, whichever you feel comfortable with.

oh that sounds good

Complete academic orienteering:

[Academic Orienteering Introduction](http://ls-orientation.berkeley.edu/intro.html)

You can see which requirements you’ve already fulfilled as well as choose classes (although it doesn’t register you for classes).

geodude you should think of taking about 2 easy classes along with UGBA10, although the class itself is not hard the curve is brutal since all the people taking the classes are competitive business majors. So depending on what your other classes are, UGBA10 Econ1 are doable (if those are your two chosen difficult classes). Maybe you should take your AC req and also the literature (not r&c) req as the easy classes.

Thanks aigoo1113! Econ 1 and UGBA 10 is my two chosen difficult classes so I guess I fill it with my AC req and lit breadth. Any courses you would recommend that is interesting for my AC req and lit breadth? Also, do you know any courses that will fulfill my AC req and Historical Studies (HS) breadth also? I’m planning to have P.E.I.S. as my backup major so it would be nice if a class can cover my AC req, HS breadth, and a prereq for P.E.I.S.
