how do private universities view transfer applicants with excess credits?

<p>I know some UCs have a strict policy regarding transfer.. but what about private universities?</p>

<p>I currently have about 90 credits... but when I apply for next fall, I'll have about 110 semester credits. </p>

<p>About half of those credits are pretty pointless since I switched majors and does not relate to the major I'm planning on applying to, do they just take max of 64 credits and ignore the rest?</p>
