How do Teacher Recommendations work?

Here’s my idea:

 1. Told them briefly about the college
 2. Gave them the form in an envelope with a stamp
 3. The form has the address to send it to on it

Do the teachers send the recs directly to the school, or do they give the rec back to me to send?

Should we make copies of these recommendations?

If I apply to more than one college, do they complete separate recommendation forms for each?

Usually they send them directly to the schools.

If you can make a copy, then sure, but usually applicants waive their rights to see the recs. And they do complete another form for each school or send xerox copies of their recs.

:)

Should I request that the teacher allow me to make a copy?

Which is usually expected or more common - filling out separate recs for each school or just xerox copies?

No. If it is not offered, then don't ask.

Most fill out seperate ones. Though, publics tend to use copies.

Remember only send in a Rec if a school ask for it. If they don't ask for it, then they won't read it. Like the UCs get tons of rec for undergrad admissions, they throw them away and never read them.

Yep, school asks for it. Thanks everyone

really!!!! WOW i did not know that! So it's a waste of time?

is it better for the teacher to mail it herself, or for me to mail it in a big envelope with my transcript, resume, and all the other stuff?

how many different teachers did you guys ask?

I just asked two (what's needed).

I also asked for 2 recs, what was required.

What do you do when you have the Common App rec form and 4 other different forms? Do you just hand them all to that teacher?

what is a polite way to make sure that the teacher mails them all on time?
