So... if I'm applying to numerous schools using the common application, how do the teacher recommendations work?

The Common App supplies the teacher rec forms (where the student is supposed to fill out the top part)... do I fill that out, and then hand only that one paper to my teacher with a stack of 7 or 8 envelopes stamped and addressed to the schools I'm applying to?

I guess what I'm asking is... how do copies work? If my teachers choose to write me an actual letter of recommendation (which the common app says is completely acceptable) rather than filling out that sheet, do they still need to attach a copy of that sheet with my info to each letter before mailing?

I'm very confused about this. What did you all do? Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated! :)

Hand the teacher (one) sheet and she'll know what to do. She's gonna make the copies of the sheet, rather than rewrite everything. Give her all the stamped, adressed envelopeds though.

What i did was, had the teacher write in one form and have it photocopied without filling up the signature and the date part. Then later he signed in each letter and had it sealed before giving to me.

What I did was print out the recs for each school I was applying to and I filled out the top part. Then I gave the recs form to my teacher along with the envelopes. Then my teacher either attached a printout of a rec she had already written for me or just filled out the rec form...then you just make sure everything is in the envelope and send it...it's really a simple process.

Yeah, usually they don't give you the envelope back to make sure everything is in it or what not, because they just mail it themselves. I mean, traditionally, you are not supposed to read the recommendation at all, nor request it back so you can mail it yourself. They will mail it. Just provide postage.

Yes, it even says "feel free to attach additional sheet". But make sure you and they fill out and sign the main sheet and include that. Also don't forget the stamped addressed envelopes.
