I'm an OOS state and therefore don't know much about the UCs, other than the fact that I want to attend UCLA. I see that they don't read letters of recommendation, but does that mean that they don't read counselor statements/letters either? My teachers and counselor sent in their letters anyway because my school is not very familiar with the UCs, so will they read my counselor statement? My school offers hardly any APs, which is why I want them to be clear on why I did not take any sophomore or junior year. Was I suppose to mention that in additional information section or will they read the report my counselor sends? Thanks

That information will be in the report sent by the counselor. I think it’s called the School Report, where the counselor gives information about the school.

But does UCLA read it?

I should think so. They rely on counselor reports of the school to determine an applicant’s competitiveness in comparison to other students from your school. If your school doesn’t offer many APs, don’t worry about it, as long as you took the classes that were more challenging and available to you. You will not be at a disadvantage with respect to students who attend schools that offer 15-20 APs because those opportunities were not available to you.
