I’m applying to USAFA and in the candidate packet I received it mentioned that they will also look at how competitive your high school is. How do they know how competitive it is? Do they base it off of like how big the school is, like the whole 1A, 2A,3A,4A,5A, etc. thing? Or do colleges have databases that show them the competitiveness?

Your HS will provide stats to USAFA about how many grads go to colleges and what “types” of schools. Average SAT/ACT scores, number of AP/IB courses available. This is not the Academy’s first rodeo. In all likelihood there have been other applicants from your school and the ALO will probably also be familiar with it.
Good Luck!

A quick look at your school profile will tell them. If average ACT score is in the high 20s, by definition the school is very competitive
