How do we convert our Indian % to GPA?

How do we convert our Indian % to GPA?

Use the collegeboard gpa converter.

Just out of curiosity, are your colleges asking you to convert your marks to 4.0 GPA? If not, you better not convert it since the Indian education system is very different fro the American one. Most often we convert are percentage marks to GPA, it looks pretty bad. The admission officers are aware of our percentage system. Also, you will be compared to other Indians so leaving it in percentage makes sense. But if your colleges require you to convert it, then go ahead.

Thanks Forzajuve
And I agree Conscience13, thank you for the advise, I would avoid converting it to their 4.0 GPA system. Both the systems are very different.

Hey CheesGo,
Believe me when I say bud -don’t convert your grades into american GPA- you’ll just miss the benefit of doubt, our system is too complex to be analyzed and varies from school to school. You’ll have more to lose than gain if you convert grades, whatever your grades are, just focus on SAT/ACT, because it doesn’t matter even if you get a 4.0 GPA by conversion if you SAT scores are low, the adcoms will know that your grade is inflated and you are not as good as you profess to be. On the other hand, if you SAT/ACT is high, the adcoms will give you the benefit of doubt and know that you must be a good student and your school has stringent marking schemes.

I can’t thank you enough Duck007. I agree with you 100%.

What are adcoms by the way?

adcom refers to the admission committee and the admission officers who will go through you application. It is an informal term btw; don’t use it any emails or other correspondence to colleges :P

Admissions Committee.

hah okay! :P
