I make a bunch, lowers my score almost 100 points usually, how do you all prevent them from occuring?

do a TON of problems and you'll see. I'm no expert at this but that's what seems to work.

just find the ones you keep getting wrong, and youll prolly find a trend, then work on those

Also, don't linger too much. Solve it and move on, so you'll have time at the end to go back and check everything. Otherwise, you might simply ingrain the wrong answer into your head.

My math sequence is typically:

Read question. Do question without looking at the answers (if possible). If I'm lucky, the answer is there.

Quickly reread question, go through the same argument you used to derive the answer, checking all algebra steps carefully. Plug in your answer to test if possible. Convince yourself the answer is right.

If the answer is not there, think about where you might have went wrong. Reread the question. Read the answer choices. If taking too long, circle and move on.

Only if you have time at the very end, after this rigorous system of double checking each answer you do carefully, go through the entire test again. Doing so could prevent the problem of repeating your mistake (as CC Lurker mentioned).

Just re-do the question. After you finish the section, use the extra time to redo questions that were particularly tricky.

practice, practice and practice ..

Plug your answer back in
