<p>I am interested in certain schools like Duke, Penn, Yale, but i don't know how to answer the Why a certain school response, could you give advice as to how you answered it?</p>
<p>If you don't know why you want to go to Duke, Penn, or Yale, PLEASE do NOT apply... you are hurting other ppl's chances.</p>
<p>haha i dont think you shouldn't apply because you're hurting other peoples chances, but if you truly do not know why you would want to go to a particular school, why are you actually applying? just think about what makes duke, penn, yale, etc special to you -- the reasons you love those schools -- the reasons you are applying to them -- and i think you will land at the reason you would want to go there...figure it out, and write that ;)</p>
<p>Just answer the question. You don't have to suck up to the school by saying how entertaining your interviewer was or referencing specific teachers. Colleges have seen all that. Just answer the question: What drew you to the school in the first place, how will the college, as you know it, help you achieve your goals?</p>

<li>"Going to this school will lead me to success." - Not true.</li>
<li>"This school is challenging, but not excessively academically oriented. People around here have fun for a change!" - So you don't find academics fun?</li>

<p>When I visited Swarthmore, my admissions dean was talking about the whole application process and I distinctly remember that she didn't need any creative, personal responses, and I remember her words: "Just why."</p>
<p>You might want to include specific aspects of the school which make it stand out from other (competitor) schools. </p>
<p>As a rule of thumb, if in your essay you can take out "Duke" and stick in "Penn" and still have it make perfect sense, then you haven't done enough research.</p>
<p>If you visited the campus, and you should have visited the schools you are seriously considering (or heavily researched them), what is something that stood out to you? There has to be one factor that makes that school better than the others on the list. Think of one factor that you love, write your essay, and then change the college name for each ap :p</p>
<p>You should answer that question the same way you answer every other question on your application: honestly.</p>
<p>seriously, honesty is key. If your honest answer isn't so great than I would consider either looking into the school a bit more to see what exactly draws you to it, or just don't apply.</p>
