How do you check grades at college?

My high school has this online system, you like log in and see your grade. Is there a similar system at college, or how do you know what grade you have?

same thing in college

oh good. thank you

Yeah, my college uses blackboard for instance. Though it depends on the professor. Some of mine don’t post grades online, and you’d have to ask them for an overall grade, or they give papers back individually. Some of my professors post a grade sheet outside of class with all the grades.

^Same. We use Blackboard, which is really nice, but they’re not required by any means to post it on there–my architecture teacher last semester never posted grades, and I mean never. I figured out roughly what I got on the final by using the GPA on my transcript and working backwards, but I mean it’s her prerogative if she doesn’t want to.

I think it depends on the college. At my school, there’s no online system. Professors in math/science classes have given me the occasional progress report, but other than that it’s not too hard to figure out your overall grade if you’ve been paying attention to your grades on tests and assignments.

The only time I’ve found them online is at the end of the term once the registrar posts the final grades to academic history on my account.

During the semester most profs hand back tests/assignments and expect you to record your scores and average them according to the syllabus to figure out your grade. At least that’s how it is at my college.

I found blackboard to be pretty inaccurate when I was taking classes, as most professors didn’t put any weighting on any assignment, so you still had to do all the calculations yourself. Not to mention how in classes where there’s going to be a curve you’re pretty much in the dark unless the professor gives out your class’s distribution.

At my school, people only got to know their grades at the end of the semester. Of course, you can always ask a professor how you are doing.

some professors in some class use an online website through the school in which they post your test grades and other grades you get throughout the semester/quarter? But for the most part you have your own school account where your grades are posted at the end of the quarter/semester. When i was in high school they would mail your grades to your house like a third of the semester, or a progress report to see how you were doing. It sucked if you didn’t want your parents to see if you got a bad grade

At my school we have a thing like blackboard (our school rebranded it and calls it something else) and some proffessors will post grades there. Depending on the proffessor it can be very accurate or innacurrate. At the end of the semester we can log in online and see our grades one the registrars office posts them. Grades are usually posted 5 days or so after finals week ends. My school also mails our grades home which is only slightly annoying cause then my grades turn into like a whole family discussion. At my school all proffers are required to turn in mid-term grades for first year students in the middle of the semester which are mailed home. So my parents found out what my mid-term grades were last semester before I did, which makes no sense at all.

E-mail your school and find out what the deal is.

My school has Blackboard, but most of the professors don’t use it. I’d say about 95% only put grades up at the end of the semester, and those are your final grades. Of course, you can always go to office hours and ask how you’re doing.
