I'm done with freshman year of college and I'm looking for a job. I'm asking random stores at the mall for job applications and I'll turn them in, but I don't know which place would offer the "best" job. The only thing I think about is which place I'd prefer to get a discount from lol. So how do you guys decide where to apply? And any other suggestions of places I should be looking besides the mall?

If you're in desperate need of cash, I'd say go for the highest paying position.

If you're lazy and don't want to do anything, go for the least demanding job.

Discount? Choose the top three stores that you like. Compare them to each other and see which one offers the best discount at the store. Then choose.

I'm in desperate need of cash = highest paying job. That's how I roll.

Is mall close to your home? In my hometown, the mall is like 20 mins away. It sucks to work somewhere so far because gas prices are so high. I'd recommend you looking for a job closer to home.

Also, look for a job that is RELATED TO YOUR INTERESTS. It will help you figure out what you want to do in the future.

How would you know which places pay more before you get hired and they tell you?

I go to the places where I think will give me the best pay and most hours. I am working at a warehouse right now.. its a guranteed 40-50 hours a week with no weekends if I don't want to. I work with some cute mexican ladies too and they are all helping me learn spanish a little bit more because I am teaching myself. Out of the 6 jobs i've had.. I have never worked with such nice people. Jobs are hit or miss.. if you don't like the job you get.. find a new one .

right now I am looking for jobs that I do nothing so I can do homework but you should look for jobs at places that are labeled "best places to work" such as The Container Store or Starbucks or work at places that you like to shop so you can get discount.

If you are looking for a job during school you should get a campus job.. I don't really work regular jobs during school because for the most part they don't care about your studies and your grades usually show. (not saying there aren't exceptions.. so please don't tell me your stories about your friend who worked through school and got good grades)

I got a job at the rec center because I spent a decent chunk of time there anyway.....might as well get paid to be there even more!
