I mean everywhere I applied..I like never get hire. Iam still looking for one :(. SO I am wondering what is the best way to get a job? Or how did you guys get jobs?
I dont care what kind of job but I just want to get one to help pay for college next year.

The only job I ever got was at Kroger because a friend got me the job. Anyways, I hate working there and will never shop there again :p.

I have the same problem. did you apply online? i did, but then quickly realized that doesn't work. lol. everyone tells me to apply in person, which i'm gonna do. dunkin donuts is in desperate need of afternoon workers. :D

I applied everywhere and ended up getting one at a little mom and pop shop down the street. I'm assuming you're a Michigander like me (the name) and good luck... There's no jobs ANYWHERE.

Just apply in person. All my friends did that. Turn in a hand written application, and get an interview. Try somewhere large like Walmart or Target. They hire constantly.

Please anywhere but WalMart (please don't start a debate about this, I just don't like the store because it put most of my families' shops out of business. It kills mom and pop shops)

Yeah, realisitcally, unless you have connections, you'll need to apply for a low paying job at a McDonalds or a Walmart (sorry *romanigypsyeyes *, but I get the feeling that one high school student not applying for work there won't kill the corporation). I got my internship last year though my school's Academy of Finance Program. This year, I hope to be working at a camp
I used to attend...

You'd be surprised. They boycotted a WalMart for years and then finally tore down a whole block to put it up. The only problem was, the whole block was basically like the downtown in my area. Only one person went to work there and they were forced to close. This was in a small town in the middle of nowhere up north though. The mom and pop shops are now back up =].

Go look now especially though before kids coming home from college get the jobs.

Oh, small town. Thought you meant like a big city. Well, I don't know. I'm all for the Walmart corporation because of the great savings and the fact that no one in my family runs a m/p shop. But I'd probably be different if Walmart did but my family's store out of business....

this is y i begged my dad for a job i dont have to apply i just wake up uber early one day and he sets me up to work..and it will happen 2-3 times a week this summer 12 hours a day(thats his schedule) he owns a party rental company and runs the warehouse and im hoping he decides not to sell that i take over the money is great

I work a theatre. I just filled out an application, got interviewed and was hired. One thing you should do before filling out an application is to see first if the store/place is even hiring. You know you can get a job from a place with help wanted up as well. Also use your connections. Ask your parents if they know anyone who could give you a job.

I am going to get a newspaper and look around..asks some of my friends and hope for some luck. The theatre sounds like a kool place to work at.

I would never work at Walmart..the ppl there are sometimes weird..I meant they are "different" cuz everytime I go there its like a whole new world.. Plus i barely go to Walmart

Thxs everybody and keep the advice coming :p

connections connections connections.
no matter how smart, skilled, or whatever you are, if you're 16/17/18 and want a job other than the generic walmart/mcdonalds job you'll need connections.
personally i got hired cause one of my friends who was working there suggested me when they were hiring, he got his job cause his brother used to work there, etc etc
look to friends and family

How do you apply for a job at Kroger? I know it blows there but I'm getting desperate and I don't think I can afford to be picky. Do you just ask a cashier for an application?

My issue is that I already have a job as a lifeguard, but they cut our hours down to 20 per week... But no one else is willing to hire me unless my schedule's completely open and flexible.

School bulletins usually have local businesses posting ads. If you don't mind the low pay, which is still higher than the grocery store pays, try those out. I just called, got an interview and had the job the next day.
