Do you find it pretentious/pompous? I don't usually wear Penn stuff just b.c no one really cares at my school and people consider me snobby, though wearing UMD is just fine...I dunno. What are your takes

just don't flaunt it. plus nobody knows what penn even is. they'll just ask if you're mad that USC smoked your nittany lions in the rose bowl... i havent spoken with a kid in my grade who really knew what penn was all about yet hah... isn't that sad?

If it's like Harvard/Stanford and they have no relation (summer program, alumni) to it, then I find it quite annoying.

I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing college gear from colleges you've already been accepted into; for example, I'd have no problem with you wearing your Penn apparel, as you've earned it.
I do find it a little weird when people buy shirts from ALL of the colleges they visit... I mean, they can only go to one, and are they really gonna wear it after high school?

It does bother me that people wear multiple schools' apparel. It seems like a waste of money, too, seeing as you'll just toss it when you don't go there...

yeha i know those people who wear YALE and im like "wow like u are so arrogant"

then they get in...

I dislike when people are arrogant about it and rub it into other people's faces and brag about it, other than that I don't care really.

I have stuff from a lot of colleges, and when I choose one, I am going to give all that aren't my college to my 8th grade brother (who is the same size as me [I'm not small, he's big])

I say it's only cool for two reasons.

a.) You have a family member who goes there.
b.) You have been accepted there.

Otherwise, leave that lame-ass college shirt home- it's totally not chill.

i have a sick ELON shirt my bro got me. i sport is all the time. is that arrogant?

It doesn't really bother me. But then again I don't really pay attention to other people's clothes too much.

Generally if the college is a state school (be it instate or oos) everyone just assumes that you like their sports teams. And if it's a private college then 95% of the other hs kids haven't even heard about it.

i really don't care.

personally, i have only bought sweatshirts from harvard and princeton.
i do a speech and debate tournament at harvard every year, and my bro goes to princeton.

other than that, i'm not buying anything until i choose what school i am going to. part of me thinks i will jynx myself if i buy clothes from colleges &i won't get in anywhere else!

agreed... its weird when people rock random Harvard stuff when they're unaffiliated. it's also annoying that the kid whose locker is right next to mine has taped all of his acceptances to marginal (at best) universities into his locker and talks about how amazing his accomplishments are and how nobody else can compare to him...

/gripe. that was off topic, no?

Yeah, that's true with the sports teams. One of my junior friends wears Duke stuff (she even has Duke pencils!!).. she seems to have no affiliation with the school, she just likes it. I guess it doesn't really matter as long as the accepted person doesn't .. brag or whatever.

You guys should chill. I live in Mich and everyone wears U-M stuff or MSU stuff. Is it arrogant? I don't see why? Be secure in yourself and don't read into others motives. Maybe it was just the end of a laundry cycle -- LOL.

To me, college gear is like athletic teams' gear.

Half the shirts I own are from schools I never had any intention of applying too

They worked to get into that college and hell if they want to flaunt it...SO BE IT!

The only people at my school who get annoyed are the people who think they are so super and good for everyone else and only got into small crap state schools. They talk crap about people who got into Ivy Leagues and high end schools.

Eh, it depends; if it's a well known school like Harvard or Yale - I don't really have a problem with people wearing those sweatshirts. Or even a big 10 school, like Penn State, because it's then it's just as if the person supports the sports team. BUT, a girl in my grade got accepted to Columbia, ED, and she wears Columbia everything, every day. Their sweatshirts and shirts; she has a tote-bag and binders and folders with Columbia's name on it - that's where it gets pretentious. I get it, okay?

But, more often than not, it won't bother me because I know that I personally own sweatshirts from schools that I have no intention of applying to. Although, I have never bought a shirt from any of the schools I visited/applied to because I may never wear it again after this year. ;D

I saw a guy wearing a Berkeley sweatshirt who was actually going to attend U of Oregon lol. I'll probably buy a Seattle U sweatshirt when I visit. Maybe not though, I'm not a big fan of hoodies....

im from michigan too... those two dont count at all because thats like wearing an Eagles Jersey or a Giants Jersey or something. if u live in michigan ur either a state fan or a michigan fan and thats the football team you root for and wearing that shirt is basically just supporting ur sports team basically haha (because the lions can't satisfy us even the smallest bit).
