I took the SAT the first time in March and got the results back today. Not pleasing.
I expected much better scores - I got 1210 (very bad, I know).
I am depleted of motivation. I am feeling depressed because of my low SAT score, which I have studied pretty hard for. I don’t really believe in myself anymore. Although I didn’t have a tutor, I did use numerous books to help me and focused a lot on them, and my low SAT really bummed me out.
So, my question is, how do you get motivated to study? How can I? Any study tips or habits? Because I’m feeling pretty worthless at the moment. Thanks.
Hi there, I took my SAT on May 6 of this year and I still haven’t gotten my results. Even though I felt pretty confident in Reading/Writing, I didn’t felt so good in Math. I’m expecting a 1,200 which is far from my goal(1,450). What I try to do to stay motivated is look for stories of people that have gottten admitted to the university they want, that helps a lot. Also, I see Mateusz M videos which are great! I’ll leave you a link here to one of them just in case. Good luck! You can dm me if you need someone to talk to.
Are you concerned about how you are doing academically or on tests? How do you expect to become motivated to improve your test scores by watching success stories? Motivation is based on a realistic evaluation of what you need to do and how you will accomplish that goal. Instead, you seem to feel motivation comes from digging deep, demonstrating character, knowing what you are made of, and other coach admonitions or listening to heart warming stories about success of other students whose similarity to you is unknown. Make concrete plans for how you prepare for and the take the. test test as you planned.
If money is not an issue, I would suggest taking SAT classes, or getting a tutor. This way, you would be forced to attend the classes and study. While you would not feel like studying, you’d sort of have no choice.
Also, khan academy is great tool to study. It allows you to create your own study plan for your next test day. You can schedule like 10 practice questions every other day, or however you want it. Also, they provide timed practice tests too (you can also pick when to schedule them). I would suggest scheduling both of these frequently because it allows you to really get a feel for the SAT and what to expect.
