Ive been so caught up with school, family, and college apps lately ive been losing motivation to keep improving on the sat. Ive been studying for the sat for 2 months and my scores improved significantly from 1300s to a 1700s(on practice test) on the oct sat i choked and got a 1580, which really got me really disappointed. Now im not looking to score 2100+ but i am interested in 1900s, so can anyone tell me what they did to be motivated? i only have one more shot, and i dnt wanna screw up, but lately ive been like...Fkuc it, ya know?

This may sound ludicrous, but speaking for the ACT, I find it fun to take the test (no, I’m not high). Each time I take it, it’s like a game that I have to try to beat. Yeah, it sounds silly but it got me a 34. Just try to think about the positive results you will get from a good score, just stay self-motivated.

what motivates me is that potential acceptance letter

even though sats aren’t everything… it works for me :)

true, I think of it as a game, especially the English section. Plus, every time I check my answers on practice tests, seeing that I get the answer right makes me happy inside, haha. You want to do your best on it to kind of get that good feeling on the test and beat the game.

Hey amigos! I had the same problem “a few” years ago when I was preparing for the SAT.

I assume that you are excited about going to college and that your friends are also applying to numerous colleges.

Anyways, it was difficult for me to see the test as fun in any way! However, I maintained my motivation during those low times by imagining the day that I could tell my parents and all my friends that I had gotten into this college or that college.

I know it’s hard to imagine what that would realistically be like since it hasn’t happened yet, but trust me, it’s every bit as rewarding as what you think it will be!

On top of that, I don’t think there is any feeling quite like discovering that you were just accepted into a school that you really wanted to get into. The moment you see that college acceptance (or rejection) letter in the mail, your heart goes berserk and you can’t think of anything else except opening that letter.

The choice to study or slack off now can have a pretty major impact on your entire life too! The school you attend will inevitably determine your friendships, your future occupational endeavors, and even your romantic life (Quite probable)! :)

So, chin up amigos! You sound like an intelligent individual. Get crackin’!

Think about how awesome it will be to attend the school of your dreams.

I really want to go to one school, and all I think about it going and unless I get the score I need, it’s not happening. So basically it’s study and get in, or don’t study and be stuck at a schoo you don’t want to go to.

I chose study! :)

what should motivate you is thinking about your future college, ambitions and believing you can do it.believe that if someone else can make it ,then you too can make it.this will work fine for you.

The song Live to Win by Paul Stanley. I’ll occasionally play it during math and writing sections!

Not to crazy. When I did the few practice tests I did, I was quite interested in measuring my mental abilities at certain intervals. It’s kind of like a chess puzzle-- a mental workout or game that you know you can win.

And you also know that you are better than all those randoms in your school, so you have to show them how kickass you are by demonstrating on either the SAT or ACT. When you get the score you want, you can tell those stuck up pricks to take a lap.

you guys are awsome! thank you WongTongTong, epicgee, happymunkee, jcold9, fredkay, jonmrcool, cjgone and especially clicheconnection! Ima go to this page everytime i start having those days again.
