How do you get yourself motivated to pay attention in class?

I think my article was similar, but from Time though. Can’t remember if I read it online or in the actual magazine itself, but I’ll try to find it.

Well, here’s one about the study:

[Doodle? Do, to Improve Concentration - The Checkup -](http://voices.washingtonpost.com/checkup/2009/03/doodle_do_to_improve_memory.html)

If your professor uses the book, read and take notes on the material for the lecture before the lecture; then get enough sleep and sit in front. It will be easier to listen because it will be like a review and you will be hearing the information after reading and writing it. Then you can doodle and have your doodles mark what you think the professor has emphasized.

hmmm. interesting. Thanks BerkeleyMom! and Fiesta!

Pick classes that will motivate you. Find a way to relate your life to the class.

I know it’s not class but for studying and doing homework I listen to really wierd jazz like Jaco Pastorious or something. If it’s chaotic enough it doesn’t distract me what it does is keep outside world stuff from getting in and distracting me.

Obviously sleeping is necessary, even military training being one of the most brutal things you can put yourself through mandates a certain amount of sleep. Drink water in class. Sipping water will help keep your body awake, especially if you have to **** like crazy the whole class. Also exercise. A healthy body maintains a healthy and attentive mind as well. I tried sitting in the front row of class with a very difficult and somewhat mean teacher and fell asleep because I had been up for 36 hours. A recently published article stated that after 36 hours without sleep, your body operates as if having a .10 BAC. Interesting huh?

haha you cant write ****, thats funny

i would probably think of my parents breaking their backs trying to make some tuition money to give me a decent education.

unless… youre talking about high school. 'cause im on a serious senioritis roll at the moment HHAHA oh man -0-.

Pick classes that actually interest you

Sit as far up front as possible

lol i wish number 2 were true. But I fell asleep in math 1a lecture twice while sitting up front and in a seminar once.
