If you have any love of reading at all (and if you don't, you have my sincere condolences) I'd recommend picking up one of Kaplan's "SAT Vocabulary Building Classics." Though a bit cheesy, they do let you build up vocabuary while enjoying good literature. They're certainly less sleep-inducing than flash cards.

when I took my SATIs I had full 6 IB courses plus one AP class and when a major assignment (tok essay/ geo field study/ world lit) is dueI often stay up until 3-4 am to finish (not leaving thing to last day or anything, I just find so many mistake/weak points last day that I cant stand to had it in)
I studied SAT in between homework, like when I finish physics and getting started on world lit, SAT cram is a nice break to relax ad bit and switch into english mode.

"You have to get used to sleeping less. Given your age, you don't need 8 hrs of sleep anymore. 5~6 hrs is good enough. Of course it would be tiring for the first few days. But you just gotta get used to it."

no way! hahaha.. we need more.. maybe like 9-10... wow man..

have classes until 4:30 everyday, and I have classes every single day at lunch. I am taking 8 IB courses and 3 options. I get home by like 5:30~6, then my hw takes until 11~12, and then most of the time I need to prepare for quizzes/exams. And once bball season starts, which is early or late November, I'll have basketball game/practice everyday except friday, meaning I'll get home at like 8:00 everday. My point is that you have A LOT more spare time than most of people on cc. If you get tired while studying the SAT, take a 10 min nap, that really wakes you up.

I was getting up at 6 everynight and on thursdays, 10 and on fridays 11 or 12.

I'm in IB, too.

Honestly, I can't see how I can do it. This 1st 6 week term I've made THE WORST GRADES IVE EVER MADE EVER. I just couldn't take it. Academic Dec. and band were taking my time. I cannot see myself making Bs in all my subjects. I am quitting band. Which means I will be home at 3 everyday but tuesdays. I'd be home by 6. And thursdays, I'd be home by 10, but I have a nice margin of time between school and the actual practice to do homework. Fridays will be free for me (but I actually do love football games.).

Quitting band is going to relieve SO MUCH STRESS from me.

Now I can do SAT prep. I haven't been doing it before.

Woah, man. My parents are like that too. They're like "YOu only need 4 or 5 hours of sleep a day". I'm like "woahh *** are you talking about?"

OH you only have four core classes? Try 7.

well according to the National Sleep Foundation teenagers contrary to misconception need 8-9 HOURS of sleep. They need to sleep more than children. It is according to research. You need sleep to grow but u won't die with little sleep unless it is too less. But I know people who slept like 2 hours a day for 20years and one day he just went crazy. So don't push it too much. Who knows?

I did 3 hrs of sleep (except weekends) for 2 weeks once, and then the week after I was so out of it and began to sleep in class .. so yea.. dont push it

well 4 cores is the max at my school, since we only have 4 timetable slots for classes. meaning each class takes roughly around 1.5 hours... school is still from 9am-3:30pm, so more materials are covered in each of the 4 cores (i'm guessing, compared to 7 cores in the same time period)

And about the sleep thing... i might try to push midnight, but i did that last school year, and i couldn't concentrate in math class, and only become fully awake (aka not yawn every 5 minutes) at lunch time.

My plan is to work uber-hard for these next few months going to bed at around 12 or 1. After all my applications are in I can go back to sleeping 9 hours a night. Getting into a better college is worth losing a few hours of sleep and missing a few parties.

Scientists may recommend 9 hours or so, but if they went to high schools that give that much homework and still wanted to do well on the SAT, they honestly would not be able to get that much sleep.

My homework is usually pretty easy but just time consuming. Like 100 problems of ap chem from Zumdahl's is hard to do in less than four hours.

Seriously, suck it up. Or if you need to sleep early, wake up early. My friend goes to bed around 9 and wakes up at 3 or 4 to finish work.

im taking 5 APs this year and do Tae Kwon Do about 12 hours a week.. no much but after extracurricluars, takes away a lot of time :P

So this is what I do... My school bus ride is approx. 40 min total.. so I pick up a kaplan CR workbook and do whatever i can. When i wake up in the morning.. sometimes i get up 30min earlier than usuall... i just start preping. but i can NEvER force myself to do it on weekends. :(

so basically i get about 280 - 350 minutes of practice per week which is alot :D
