How do YOU keep focus on the SATs?

I can't be the only one that suffers from careless mistakes, and often times, these mistakes have nothing to do with time or anxiety. I have found that I generally just lose focus, not daydreaming, but having to reread questions multiple times, wanting to jump ahead or look back, losing my train of thought and having to go backwards a few steps. I found that these have lapses in concentration cause my greatest source of error, because they increase the likelyhood of making careless mistakes.

So I was wondering what some of you have found to be good strategies in keeping focused during testing. It doesn't have to be limited to just the math section, but to the SATs in general.

For example, I found that reading slightly out loud, or mouthing at least helps me concentrate better. Do you guys have any other tips?

I rub my neck so I don’t stop breathing from stress.

For reading, you can try to write down short notes on the side to summarize each paragraph or so in a few words. This way, as soon as you zone out, you find that you can’t summarize anymore because you can’t recall what it is that you’ve been reading a few seconds ago and therefore catch yourself quickly. That also helps me focus better.
