I'm interested in providence college, but I want to know the opinions of students who go there (because you can never really trust what college admissions tells you). How are the academics (particularly the global studies and political science programs, if possible)? What do people typically do on the weekends? How is the campus? And any other things like that you can tell me would be greatly appreciated!

I have a D at PC and she loves it!. She was concerned about finding bright, ambitious kids but that was not a problem. Smart kids who like to have fun. There is plenty to do on campus, most kids stick around. They use the public transportation system to get into the city to go to Lupo's for concerts, restaurants, mall, Thayer Street near Brown, no lack of things to do, WaterFire, skating rink. My daughter graduated from a public school with a 4.2, all honor and AP and has not had a problem finding great friends who are great students. Sports are a big draw. Either going to a basketball, hockey, rugby or soccer game. Intramurals are a big part of the fun as well. Kids are also involved in student government, planning events like all night parties and fundraisers. Plenty of parties, so I hear. I think it is a good well rounded college experience. There could be a little more social awareness, in my opinion. Professors have been very available and accessible. She has great relationships with some really cool, liberal teachers. Hope this helps!

Hi My D attends PC and we live in RI. PC has a great reputation. Western Civ is a 2 yr required class. My D was DREADING it but has found it is very interesting and the class can be a lot of fun! She said the professors are availabe for extra help or to chat. Club sports are HUGE! There are a lot of activities to do on campus and in the surrounding area. There is a large contingent of students who don't imbibe and they find plenty to do. I wish I was 18 again and could go..........

You could also check out the PC students who are writing blogs on the admissions pages. They are on the admission website but seem to be pretty honest and realistic about student life at PC.
