How do YOU party?

Obviously a ■■■■■ looking to stir things up. It’s pretty amazing some people don’t have better things to do with their time.

Obviously a ■■■■■.

so how have everyone’s summers been going?

6 weeks left til move in! too long, yet too short.

Answers to a few Posts:

Post # 76 anberlin, I’m going to be starting a new thread on Parent forum called “Li’l Party Animals” … look for it soon

Post # 77 THL, my daughter is 28 yrs old, married and lives in Westerly, Rhode Island with her computer-engineer husband. She works in a medical field and seems to be quite happy both personally and professionally

My son finished his higher education in south Florida and now lives in Del Ray Beach FL in a beautiful house he bought with and shares with his gorgeous fiancee … he’s 31 yrs old, and works in computer graphics & design

And the most amazing thing about my two kids – in fact people who only know me casually find hard to believe because it’s so foreign to anything they’ve ever heard of before – both of my kids moved out of my home shortly after age 18 and have lived on their own since, and both have been totally self-supporting by their very early 20’s

In contrast, I know several couples who have sold their homes and moved into someplace much smaller because they can’t get their 30-something kids to leave … and their kids are still totally dpendent on what author Thomas J. Stanley calls “economic out-patient care”

THL wrote : " You sure it applies to all parents, including yourself? "

You obviously either never took a course in Logic in college or you slept through it

There is an advanced principle in logic which – to put in layman’s plain English – states the an exception to a Rule / Law doesn’t negate the whole Rule / Law; while an exception to a Theory can negate the entire Theory

So if you ever saw an apple fall UP , the entire Theory of Gravitation would be negated

OTOH , the fact that Danny Devito is shorter than Gisele Bundchen doesn’t negate the General Rule that ’ Most men are taller than most women "

So of course what I wrote doesn’t apply to my own kids … my kids are both successful whereas most kids these days suffer from what is euphemistically known as “failure to launch” [ there was even a movie by this name on this very subject ]

@Shannon. - it seems as if you have no ties to UCSB. Just curious how/why it is that you found your way to posting on this forum

And your kids are the exception to the Rule/Law whereas we aren’t?
I’m not sure how you found your way onto this forum but you should just try to find a way out…

Cool, because I certainly wasn’t raised as if I was “God’s gift” either. . .

May I ask, what your intentions are in posting in this thread?

EDIT: Never mind, I find the gist of your intentions here.

I don’t see how a thread that went very off-topic after the first fourth of the posts would make a good poster-child of your concerns.

Find a better thread to vilify.

^Anger. . .
Unleash your inner Nine-Tailed Fox, haha.

Nah, I wasn’t angry lol.

I share several concerns with that poster; however, like I said earlier, I feel that she could have used a better thread to feed her fire.

True enough. A gold sticker for you ^_^

this was by far the most awkward thread I’ve ever encountered, I can’t even imagine adults–moms even–to exist with such holier than thou attitudes. Is this real life?

@shannon I’m sorry that your friends have reared such terribly incompetent kids but I don’t think you should make such powerful generalizations. Students’ tendencies change from location to location; maybe you’ve lived in a no-good hick town with college students who have no ambitions and just drink/smoke/party but others haven’t.

I think “awkward” is the wrong word, unless if you’re referring to Shannon’s post lol. . .

oh yes, that’s exactly what I was referring to.

My mistake then

Anyways, going back off-topic:

My Amazon Prime membership ended. No more free two-day shipping on my books and whatever random tidbits I buy. . .

Sad, I am.

):

I used mine today for the first time to buy a small iHome, but I find it hard to buy things using Prime, since they usually cost more.

True. Some items are cheaper without Prime, you have to do a little shopping around .__.

I found out I lost 5 lbs during summer session. lol

I’m pretty mad and I’m going to rant to the financial aid office tomorrow because I’m being charged for FSSP when I cancelled. It makes my blood boil…seriously…

Financial aid office is always late on their s___.

Very infuriating, I know.
