I am an international student and my orientation is in September (few days before move-in day). I checked my SIS and my Pass 1 time is in August and my Pass 2 is in September (not during orientation).

How will I receive assistance when I sign up for classes? Am I completely on my own? I’m majoring in Managerial Economics and I have no clue what classes I am supposed to sign up for.

Also, will I be getting all the unwanted professors and limited class options because I am an international student?

Thanks in advance!

You need to contact Davis. Yes, the pass system is weird and, as a freshman, you might not get the classes you need right away for your major. This is common and it does happen yearly; it is part of the system, so you may need to tell Davis that you will be arriving in September and can’t make your pass time.

According to my dd at Davis, the pass system prioritizes your pass time according to your accepted units and class status. Additionally, the freshman prerequisite classes, at Davis, can be big, so you need to expect that. The state of California is out of money, so the classes at Cal States and UC’s are big, so a lot of your classes will be large. Good luck!
