How do you survive off of Dine In Dollars

What I do is keep food, such as cereal (the little boxes like you can get at Sam’s or Costco work great), breakfast bars, easy mac, and some snacks in my room. If you are in the dorm you have a microfridge already, so you can easily cook anything. On days I get up early enough, I just eat breakfast in my room, and sometimes lunch or dinner too, so I only have to spend around 5$ a day at J2 or occasionally JCL.

It really is cheaper just to stock up on food in your room or to go grocery shopping then to add more money as bevo bucks - plus the meals cost more with bevo bucks than they do with dining dollars.

Way more. Never spend Bevo Bucks in Kinsolving or J2. Move Bevo Bucks to Dining Dollars if you are going to use them in the all you can eat venues.

How do off-campus non-meal plan students eat at UT? I’m assuming the dining halls are entirely full of freshmen, since everything is much more expensive if you’re not on a dorm meal plan. But how do you eat if you don’t get home (be it West Campus or farther away) until very late most days due to evening lab classes?

If you really want to stay on campus the Chic fil a, Wendy’s, Quiznos, Wendy’s and the other places in the Texas Union have pretty normal prices. Or there’s a Wendy’s in Jester, if you are up on that end of campus. I think most people step across the street and eat at one of the good places on the strip, though. Similar prices and more interesting food.

Also, if you are short on time, check the food in options in JCL and Kin’s Market.

The food at the Littlefield Patio Cafe is good but I think it is pretty expensive - though you do get 10% off if you use Bevo Bucks.

Have cereal in your room for breakfast.

Eat Lunch and Dinner every day at the all you can eat places (J2 or Kinsolving).

Since dinner is not served on Sunday, that’s one less meal. I usually eat off campus on Friday and Saturday nights too. I use Bevo Bucks for most of those times.

Make friends with somebody with a car and go to the Wal-Mart south of campus. Go once a week or so and get the essentials for breakfast.

When in the all you can eat places, eat a lot. I never snack, and just have my 3 large meals a day. It’s perfectly fine and works quite well to keep me full. Most nights I eat dinner around 6:30 and sometimes I’ve gone to bed as late as 5am. I was not hungry when I went to bed, because I ate plenty at dinner. Eat all the food groups, get lots of vegetables and fruit and bread in there.
