I’m kind of stuck right now. So on a college application, it asks you to list your activities, hours per week, weeks per year. However I volunteer at this nearby children’s education center and they call me when they need me to volunteer, so the times are really irregular. I have recorded my hours and have about 120 hours per year, but there’s not certain hours per week record… How would I write this? Could I just say 2 hours per week, 53 weeks per year? Because the hours are pretty much the same and I don’t know how else to write this…
Would this be considered cheating? Because the college will think I volunteered 2 hours every week, when it was more irregular?
Colleges understand these things. I would just average it out as 2 hours per week. You can explain in the additional information section if you feel really uncomfortable about it.
If you kept a record (even if you didn’t), you should know approx how many ‘weeks’ you served. If you didn’t serve EVERY week, than I don’t think you should say 52 weeks/yr.
So why not avg your hours over the actual number of weeks?
If you helped during ~20 weeks, 120/20 is 5 hrs/wk.
IMO that is more accurate then saying you served 52wks/year if you know you did not.
