I’m afraid that I must push back on this notion. I would like to see the evidence that the SAT is indeed less predictive of college grades for URM’s than for other races (ideally also controlling for other covariates such as college and major). If anything, the evidence seems to indicate that the SAT might be more predictive of college grades for URM’s than for other races.
First, OP is free to check all that legitimately apply. White, AA, NA, Hispanic, etc. This isn’t a one choice only. Each aspect of your own diversity adds to your ownn perspective that you bring.
Second, let’s quit using any thread question to start arguments about affirmative action.
Currently, in college admissions some ethnic/racial groups are held to higher academic standards than other racial/ethnic groups – by definition it’s a a racist system – euphemisms such as “holistic” or “diversity” notwithstanding. You can’t do anything about this. Check the box that will give you greatest advantage in admissions and aid.
