How Does Barron's Test Compare to Actual SAT 2 Biology?

Title pretty much says it all. I assume the Barron's practice test is harder than the actual SAT 2 Biology test, but how much harder exactly? If anyone has taken both, I would greatly appreciate hearing about the difference between the two scores :)

Yeah, I know. While College Confidential is helpful it is also addictive and can exacerbate the tendency to procrastinate! Collegeboard=evil :frowning:

Anyone else who has taken both?

I haven’t looked at bio since 2 years ago, but if memory serves me correctly, Barron’s SAT II Biology questions are inaccurate. Princeton Review had pretty good questions I think.

Thanks. I’ll try some of those tests tomorrow.

Charlie Brown: I saw your question in another thread so I PM’d you. About bio and such. :)

As for the practice tests in the Barrons book, they were extremely hard in comparison to the actual test. I remember scoring low 600s on one of their tests, but i got a 770 on the actual thing.

Thanks for the reply NYEM. I’ve been scoring in the mid-high 600’s on Barron’s and am hoping for a 750+ on the real thing.

I scored 690,700,and 730 on Barron’s practice tests, and ended up with a 770.

There is a lot of detail in Barron’s. Do you guys think that I should know every single thing to get a high score ??

I don’t think you need all of it for the test, but you never know which parts of it will show up so it’s probably best to memorize it.

The review section for Barrons, however, was extremely detailed and after reading through it all, the actual test will be a breeze.

So the Barron’s is WAY more than the actual test. It doesn’t seem like that much sometimes…

So there are some terms I don’t even use in my Bio class. Thus, should I just know the main ideas ?? Will they test really in detail or just in general idea ?

I am really freaking out right now since I have like a week left and I am still at the chapter of plants. I still have human and animals to study. How hard the animal part is ??? Also, how much should I know about Ecology if I take Molecular part ?

Animals is only like 2 pages and they elaborate a little more in the next chapter. Human section is long… but a week should be enough. Take which ever one you do better one for the practice test.

From what I hear, M has a better curve. Is more memorization. While E is more general environmental knowledge.

I have a bio final so I have to review for it anyway, which is a neat thing. We don’t study animal diversity so I am novel to the terms and stuffs. That’s why I am worried. If they don’t require so much detail then I think I will be fine.

How much of the Ecology is there on the general part ??

Probably no more than 10 questions…

The ecology section really is pretty straight forward. I doubt you will have any issues if you look over a section in any of the major review books on it.
