How does international merit aid work?

Hi! I applied to 5 universities through UCAs, and got accepted to University of Bristol today. I’m very excited, but don’t know how to 1) see if they offered me a scholarship and 2) if they did, how would I access this info?

Does merit aid/scholarships work the same way when UK unis are awarding them to international students? I’m American, so I really don’t know. For the American schools I’ve been accepted to, they’ve told me about my aid in the portal, but it works differently through UCAS and it’s confusing.

Thank you!!

There is very little aid for internationals in the UK, I am afraid. You are expected to be able to pay the full international fees and your living expenses.

There are a few specific scholarships, often for students from particular countries or studyig specific subjects. Bristol lists all its available international scholarships here:

You will not be automatically considered, you need to apply for them specifically. This link tells you what you need to do:

Good luck.

One of the reasons that (most) UK unis are so welcoming to international students is specifically for the (much higher) fees that they pay. You will find few scholarships / bursaries, almost all of them relatively small, for international students.
